Curriculum/Professional Development Coordinator: Carolyn Gretchen, MA

The following professional development opportunities are ongoing and a substantive part of TCI's commitment to staff excellence:

  • The Walter B. Mintz Lecture Series.  Through the ongoing generosity of friends, family and supporters, the Mintz family established a Research Fund, in memory of Walter Mintz, a founding father of TCI, which enables TCI to engage well-known speakers to address needs of the staff, parents, students, and the community.
  • Professional Development Days for staff.  These days are offered annually and feature well-known presenters and in-house experts.
  • Technology Training. TCI provides extensive tech training in such areas as, SmartBoard, Digital Photography, and use of software programs to augment instruction.
  • New and Continuing Teacher's Group.  Training is provided once monthly by the Curriculum/Professional Development Coordinator to members of the staff new to TCI to increase their competency in delivering TCI's programs and to further develop their essential teaching skills.
  • Mentor Training.  Each teacher new to TCI is provided a mentor to support his/her professional growth in the organization.  These mentors are trained in developing learning-focused relationships with their novice teachers and support them in specific topic areas per month.
  • Professional Development Committees.  These committees are comprised of members representative of all branches of the school.  The committees identify professional development needs and assist in the planning of workshops and trainings to meet these needs, under the direction of the Professional Development Coordinator.
