At TCI, we know that kids learn best when they are healthy!

TCI works with The Mountainside Family Practice of Verona for physician services. Drs. Schlam and/or Saba come to the TCI campus every week for individual conferences, consultation and staff workshops.

Physicals/Sports Physicals and Screening

Physical examinations and periodic developmental physicals are required by the state. Physicals are also required for participation in middle and high school sports. Paperwork for sports physicals, which are required for middle and high school students, can be found here.

Nurse screenings for growth and development are provided for each student annually, in accordance with state requirements.

Immunization Records/Medical Records

Upon entry to TCI, students must have an updated Immunization Record (A-45). All medical information, along with copies of Individualized Health Care Plans (IHPs) or Asthma Treatment Plans (ATPs), if applicable, must also be submitted. Student health records are confidential, and are filed and locked in the Nurse's Office. TCI can provide Tuberculosis Testing (Mantoux Test), if necessary.

Medication/Medication Administration

All medication (prescribed by the student’s doctor or over-the-counter) must be stored with and administered by the School Nurse. Medications must be delivered to the school nurse or other staff member by an adult. Under no circumstances may any student carry medications, and no medication can be delivered in a student’s backpack. Medication cannot be sent home.

Prescription medications must have all authorization forms signed by the physician and parent in order to be administered. We require a signed authorization form from the parent giving permission for administering over-the-counter medications and/or life-saving medications such as Epi-Pens and asthma medications.
